Discover, plan and enjoy your perfect family adventure in the North West
The North West of Ireland shares a rich cultural heritage of archaeology, museum and archival collections, architecture, language and literature, with a vibrant contemporary culture of visual arts, film, performing arts and festivals.
Happy Days is where you will find listings for cultural venues, events and amazing places to visit throughout Derry/Londonderry, Strabane, and Donegal – making it easier to plan your day out.
Families can come together to enjoy a wide range of activities and discover incredible places close by. Mix with other communities, try new experiences and engage with the rich culture that the North West has to offer.
If you are hosting an event in the future, you can add it to Happy Days and let everyone know where, and when it is on.
In 2018 Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) and Donegal County Council (DCC) agreed to work together in several areas that would benefit their citizens. This included collaboration on arts and cultural strategies and plans.
From this collaboration came the North West Audience Development Baseline Survey which was commissioned across the northwest to better understand the barriers to cultural engagement our citizens face. This research focused on rebuilding interactions, activities and participatory engagement as we emerge from the worst of the COVID-19 crisis.
As a result, the Happy Days initiative was established in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) and Donegal County Council (DCC) and supported by the Arts Council Northern Ireland.
Happy Days North West was designed to bring what to do in the local area together in one place, gather honest family reviews to be shared and trusted, and encourage families to:
- Engage more deeply with the local culture
- Try new experiences
- Mix with other communities
- Post their experiences via social media to encourage others to participate
- Support their local businesses
